If you managed to snag a Disneyland Resort reservation for the opening day of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and beyond, you’re in luck. Disney will be assigning free, advance reservations to all guests staying at any one of their three resort hotels from May 31 to June 23. If you have a stay booked or are one of the few lucky non-hotel guests that manage to get a free advance reservation for the land, you’re good to go. Otherwise, it has been announced that standby will not be permitted for the land and no guests will be allowed into the land without a reservation until June 24th. Per Disneyland Vice President Kris Theiler:

“There will be no standby access to the land and we want to make sure that that’s clear for guests. We don’t want guests coming to the park thinking, ‘I don’t have a reservation. Maybe I’ll just get in the queue and I’ll be able to get in.’ We’re not going to have a standby line. So it will be limited solely to those guests that have reservations.”

Details on the reservation system have not been revealed, but it is known that guests with reservations will be able to access Galaxy’s Edge and the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction upon opening. Disneyland will also restrict the amount of time visitors with reservations can spend within the land during those first initial soft opening days from May 31 to June 23. Theiler also spoke on the reservation time restrictions:

“We will be giving guests a window of time, but we’re still working through what that looks like and the duration for that. We’ll be working hard to ensure that guests have enough time in the land to see all the great things and experience the attraction. We know guests might want to stay in there all day, but we’ve got a whole big group that wants to get in there. We’re just trying to balance all those things and really deliver the right solution for our guests.”

No advance reservations will be needed starting June 24, and a virtual queue system for Galaxy’s Edge is in the works to allow visitors to wander around Disneyland while waiting to enter Galaxy’s Edge. The queue system will issue guests boarding passes that will assign them a return time based on land capacity.
