World of Color
  • 2010 is when the World of Color debuted
  • 5 years were needed to complete the World of color development process, from planning to launch. A variety of concepts were reviewed from rides to shows were considered for the Paradise Bay lagoon during the initial brainstorming.
  • 15 months were needed to transform Paradise Bay for World of Color.
  • 50 animators from Disney and Pixar created the elements of the World of Color
  • 3.5 acres with 15 million gallons of water are used in the man made lagoon for World of Color Show
  • 9,000-capacity viewing area will provide Disney’s California Adventure guests the best view in the park of this exciting nighttime extravaganza.
  • 25 minutes is the total length of this exciting new show
  • 1 full acre of engineered superstructure, longer than a football field and capable of settling on 3 levels – 1 for the performance, 1 under the water surface and one for maintenance.
  • 1,200 powerful and programmable fountains will be used in the World of Color Show
  • 8 different types of computerized and synchronized fountains create a giant underwater lattice of these geyser-inducing gushers, bringing Disney animation to life like never before.
  • 600+ Grid Fountains are used in the World of Color show
  • 400+ Chaser Fountains are used in the World of Color show
  • 65 Dual Water Whip Fountains are used in the World of Color show
  • 65 Dual Water Whip Fountains create a water screen that measures 19,000+ square ft.
  • 380-foot projection surface, rising 50 ft in air is at rear of underwater platform, created by the Dual Water Whip Fountains
  • 76 Single Water Whip Fountains are used in the World of Color show
  • 12 Flower Spout Fountains are used in the World of Color show
  • 10 Geyser Fountains are used in the World of Color show
  • 6 Dancer Fountains have swirling dual nozzles that create intertwining streams of water.
  • 4 Butterfly Fountains create the “movie” screen used to project the movie on.
  • 36 fire cannons of varying sizes and 16 of the fire cannons are mounted on swivels in the World of Color Show
  • 18,000 points of control are used in a vast underwater grid. Each fountain has multiple points of control for lighting, color intensity, water angle, height and more.
  • 30 feet to 200 feet in the air is the height some of the fountains can reach(by way of comparison, Mickey’s Fun Wheel reaches a height of 150 feet, some of it below the edge of the lagoon)
  • 80 feet above the lagoon is how high the Scenic elements will rise
  • 380 feet wide by 50 feet high is the dimension so the world’s largest water projection screen used in the World of Color
  • 19,000 square feet is the surface are of the world’s largest water projection screen used in the World of Color
  • 100,000 digital images and several different animation styles – computer-generated, paper, sand, 2-D and 3-D animation – were gathered to create the fantastic, innovative visuals.
  • 28 projectors are used in the World of Color show and 14 of them, submersible, all projectors are used to help bring the vibrant, colorful images to life.
  • 3 submersible electrical rooms, each the size of a semi trailer and each weighing approximately 30,000 lbs. As the show is performing, these rooms can travel up and down with the platform like submarines, controlling the power and infrastructure that runs the fountains and lights.
  • 75 miles of cable help control the lift tables and show equipment in the lagoon cable trays.
  • 8 decades of classic Disney music & songs are used to create the soundtrack for the World of Color
  • 79,000 musical notes are used in the World of Color Score
  • 100 speakers and 48 tracks of show audio are used for the World of Color show
  • 100-piece orchestra was used to created the soundtrack for World of Color by David Hamilton who also conducted the orchestra and contributed to the arrangements.
  • 100-piece orchestra that recorded the score included 60 strings, 15 brass, a 12 woodwinds and a harp, plus guitar, percussion, keyboards and synthesizers. Bruce Healey, senior music director/producer, Disney Entertainment Productions, called it “a privilege to be able to work with the best musicians and in the best recording studio, Abbey Road in London.”
  • 100 voices, soloists and choir were used to record the soundtrack for the World of Color

Main Street Electrical Parade
  • 6/6 through 8/14, 2010 is the run duration for “Main Street Electrical Parade” which will be showcasing lots of features never before seen – or heard – in Florida.
  • 2 classic favorites will return to the lineup after a 13-year hiatus – the shimmering diamond mine of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and the Pleasure Island haunts of Pinocchio.
  • 500,000 lights will twinkle in this edition o f the parade.
  • 10,000 are new “pixie dust” lights spread over the 23 parade floats
  • 25,000 points of light and 75 percent are powered by an LED source are just on the Tinker bell float alone
  • 160 dimmers are on the Tinker bell float, This is all part of a new control system makes it possible, for the 1st time, for each light to be programmed individually.
  • 80 performers appear in each presentation of Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade.”
  • 11,000 lights are on the dancers’ costumes alone. Thanks to the energy-efficient LED lights, some of the dancers’ costumes now carry only 1 battery pack instead of 2
  • 500 batteries supply power for lighting, propulsion, audio and special effects in the “Main Street Electrical Parade.”
  • 5 miles of wire is used throughout the floats of the “Main Street Electrical Parade.”
  • 18.5 feet tall is the Clock tower float, making this tallest float in the parade
  • 7 cars that span 118 feet is the how long the finale float the “Fireworks” float making this the longest in the parade
  • 6 Dancer Fountains have swirling dual nozzles that create intertwining streams of water.

  • 1971 is when the Swiss Family Treehouse debuted
  • 60 feet tall is the height of the Swiss family Treehouse
  • 90 feet is the diameter of the Swiss Family Treehouse
  • 300,000 leaves are on the Swiss family Treehouse
  • 42 feet into the ground is the structural support of the Swiss Family Treehouse
  • 1,400 branches are extend from the Swiss Family Treehouse
  • 9 main branches are on the Swiss Family Treehouse
  • 200 tons is the weight of Swiss family Treehouse
  • 300,000 lifelike polyethylene "leaves", which reportedly cost about $1.00 each in 1971
  • 116 steps will need to be traversed at the Swiss Family Treehouse.

WDW - Adventureland - Enchanted Tiki Room

  • 1971 is when the original Tiki Room Debuted
  • 1998 is when Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management was revised
  • 314 Audio-Animatronics are included in the Enchanted Tiki Room "Under New Management" which includes flowers, statues and birds.
  • 88 singing birds are in the Enchanted Tiki Room, under new management of course.
  • 9 minutes is the total time of you will spend in the Tiki Room
  • 250 guests can be seated in the Tiki Room
  • 1 man voiced all the bird calls and whistles, his name was A. Purvis Pullen
  • 1 of the tiki totem poles inside the Tiki Room has hidden speakers in or near it, so that if you sit next to it during the show, you can hear certain isolated parts of the music that have been separated into stereo. In particular, you can hear the isolated wooden percussion instruments coming from it during the song "The Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room."
