Walt Disney World is edging closer to the opening of a walking path connecting Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
There are reports that signs have now been installed outside the Magic Kingdom gates, directing guests toward the soon-to-open path leading to the Grand Floridian. The path was confirmed more than a year ago in July 2019. Work. began soon after, but was halted back in the spring during Disney’s COVID-19 shutdown.
The path will run along the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, allowing guests to walk from the theme park to Grand Floridian and on to Disney’s Polynesian Village resort. Back in the 1990s, Disney created a partial “pathway to nowhere” which lead away from the Magic Kingdom, but dead-ended before reaching the hotel.
No timeline has been released for the walkway’s opening. It will likely occur sometime on-or-after September 21 when the Grand Floridian’s hotel rooms are scheduled to reopen. The walkway will connect to the resort from the north, near rooms which are currently in use by members of the National Basketball Association.
Disney Vacation Club rooms in the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa reopened on June 22 following a closure of just over three months.
