Heavy equipment arrived on the site of the former River Country at Walt Disney World late this January ahead of continued work on the upcoming Disney Vacation Club property, Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge. However, as construction was halted across all of Walt Disney World due to the unprecedented COVID-19 closures, work at the burgeoning site has come to a standstill. However, Walt Disney Imagineering continues to work behind-the-scenes to ensure that progress continues on the rustic resort where the “wonders of nature are endless.”
New permits were filed today on various essential elements of the resort, including security and restroom structures, plus a table-service restaurant, which could very well be the highly-anticipated Princess and the Frog-themed eatery that was previewed during last year’s D23 Expo.
The permits filed are as follows:
- Outdoor Structure
- Pool Restroom Building
- Transportation Dock
- Security Kiosk
- Table Service Restaurant
- Bus Stop and Covered Walkway
If you’ll recall the announcement, Reflections will feature a lakeside restaurant themed to Princess and the Frog. It’s about time the beignet queen of the bayou gets the representation she deserves in the form of her very own restaurant.
Here’s a look at the interior of the restaurant, which will have sawgrass-like carpet and wooden features. Unlike the other lakeside dining establishments at Walt Disney World, this eatery is set to be a full-on, standalone table service restaurant on Bay Lake, and we can’t wait to see what even more artists renderings and interior concept art for the restaurant will look like.
Of course, resorts often have more than just one table-service restaurant, and based off of the generic address listed on the permit, it’s unknown whether this permit belongs to Tiana’s restaurant exactly, but it’s still a good sign of things to come. The parks may be closed, but we’re almost there––as in, a day closer to returning to the parks, and a few steps closer to seeing the upcoming Reflections.
