Walt Disney World is getting a slew of new experiences over the next few years, and the Disney Parks Blog has shared the official opening dates and other details for these new offerings.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 4, 2020. On this new dark ride, guests will step through the silver screen and join Mickey and friends as they travel to a world where mouse rules apply.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the upcoming immersive hotel experience, will begin ‘transporting’ guests to a galaxy far, far away in 2021. On this unique vacation, guests will become the heroes of their own Star Wars story as they are surrounded by unique galactic storytelling.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is set to open its doors in Epcot’s France pavilion in summer 2020. Based on the Disney/Pixar film “Ratatouille,” this attraction will take guests on an adventure with Chef Remy through Gusteau’s restaurant in special trackless ride vehicles.
The new Mickey Shorts Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will show a new, original short film in the style of the Disney Channel animated series “Mickey Mouse,” and will also house fun photo-op locations for guests. A new rendering of the interior of the theater was released today, which you can see above. This new offering will open in March 2020.
Your favorite “DuckTales” pals are headed to Epcot, with the new “Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure.” Through the Play Disney Parks app, guests will join Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Launchpad McQuack, Webby, and the nephews in search of priceless treasure. Travel around the World Showcase to discover unique destinations, mysteries, and maybe even a few thieves, villains, and supernatural guardians of ancient artifacts.
This will be the next iteration of the interactive scavenger hunt around World Showcase, which can only mean that Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure is not long for the World. No start date for this new offering has been announced.
Three new films will debut on Jan. 17, 2020 at Epcot:
- “Awesome Planet“ – This new film in The Land pavilion will showcase Earth’s beauty in a 10-minute film featuring an original musicals core from Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price.
- “Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along“ – Coming to the France pavilion, this film is directed and produced by Don Hahn, producer of both the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films. This twist on the classic tale features narration from Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Potts in the animated film), and will run in rotation with “Impressions de France.” The latter film will receive a 4K projection upgrade.
- “Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360“ – The Canada pavilion’s new film is an update to the previous “O Canada!” with new scenes, a new score by Canadian composer Andrew Lockington, and a new narration by Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.
Space 220 Restaurant in Epcot’s Future World will open this winter! The new table-service restaurant will be located next to Mission: SPACE, and will take guests 220 miles above the Earth’s surface – thanks to a special space elevator.
Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue will open this winter at The American Adventure in Epcot. The new fast-casual restaurant will offer barbecue and regional flavors from across the country, as well as homestyle craft brews.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant will open in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2020. This new restaurant will offer a family-friendly and fun dining experience right in Andy’s backyard.
Stay tuned for more updates on all of these new Walt Disney World offerings as we receive them.
