Construction of Walt Disney World’s “Innovative New Transportation System”, the Skyliner, began many months ago, but we had still not seen any of the system’s trademark support beams installed yet. That all changed over the weekend when the first of these beams that will support the cable system were erected.

The first support beam was installed just outside of the entrance to Disney’s Pop Century Resort and looms over the car exit lane. It’s about the height of the tree line or maybe a little bit taller. We could also see it from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort at quite a distance.

The Disney Skyliner system is expected to begin operation in 2019.
