The Walt Disney Studios announced this morning that Disney and Pixar’s newest film, “Onward,” will be available to buy digitally and on Movies Anywhere starting today, March 20, at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST and on Disney+ on April 3 in the U.S. — just two weeks after the film first released in theaters.

“Onward” was originally released theatrically on March 6, but with movie theaters currently experiencing closures due to the ongoing global health crisis, Disney has decided to offer the film early for purchase on digital platforms for $19.99.

“While we’re looking forward to audiences enjoying our films on the big screen again soon, given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release the fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes,” said Dan Scanlon, director of “Onward,” and Kori Rae, producer of “Onward”.

In the film, teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) get an unexpected chance to spend one more day with their late father, setting out on an extraordinary quest in Barley’s van, Guinevere. Like any good quest, their journey is filled with magic spells, cryptic maps, impossible obstacles, and unimaginable discoveries. But when the boys’ mom Laurel (voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus) realizes her sons are missing, she teams up with The Manticore (voice of Octavia Spencer) and heads off to find them. Perilous curses aside, this one magical day could mean more than any of them ever dreamed.

You can purchase “Onward” now on your favorite streaming platform, or wait to stream it on Disney+starting April 3. If you’re not sure about the movie.
