The 50th anniversary of Earth Day and the 25th anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund are happening on the same day, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is throwing a party!
From April 18-22, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will offer special entertainment and activities throughout the park, all leading up to an all-day celebration on Earth Day, April 22.
Each day includes a lineup of speakers and entertainment, behind-the-scenes-tours, specialty food and beverage options, limited-edition merchandise signings, character meet-and-greets, photo-ops, special Wilderness Explorer activities, and more.
Throughout the week, guests can hear from some of the park’s animal experts in the Wild by Nature Speaker Series at the Theater in the Wild, where they can learn about the ways Disney’s conservation experts are working to save the planet and its wildlife.
Not only that, but explorers and photographers from National Geographic will be on hand to share their stories from the front lines of their adventures, as well as wildlife photography and video techniques in the speaker series. National Geographic merchandise will also debut during this time at the Disney Parks.
Get insight from Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde, as he brings back his Tiffin Talks, featuring a four-course meal and discussion on his research trips and personal exhibitions. Registration for this dining experience will begin on Feb. 18.
You can get a sneak peek at this year’s Disneynature films, “Elephant” and “Dolphin Reef,” which will debut on Disney+ this April. The sneak peek will also include discussions with Roy Conli, award-winning producer of the films.
As part of this grand Earth Day Celebration, the Disney Conservation Fund will showcase 25 global wildlife heroes, who will present their stories from their work saving at-risk wildlife around the world in the new book, “Disney Conservation Legacy.” The book will be available for purchase in Disney’s Animal Kingdom during this time.
At the Animation Experience in Conservation Station, guests can learn how Disney animators brought characters to life by using real-life animals as inspiration. There will be special Disney characters featured for the Earth Day Celebration!
If you can’t make it to the park on Earth Day, you can see Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the global television event “Born Wild: Earth Day Live,” which will be simulcast on National Geographic and Nat Geo Wild on April 22 at 8 p.m. Eastern. The program will feature National Geographic Explorers and leading ABC News anchors as they take viewers on a journey around the world to see the vast array of animals and their habitats that live on Earth.
